World gets first look at new Moominvalley

New animation will air on Sky One, Sky Kids and NOW TV in the UK in spring 2019.

Moomin Characters has given the first look at the new animated characters from the eagerly anticipated Moominvalley.

The series – which is a new TV adaptation of Tove Jansson’s classic property – will be airing on Sky One, Sky Kids and NOW TV in spring 2019 in the UK, and on public broadcaster YLE in Finland in February.

The series has been made using brand new techniques in 3D computer-generated imagery to bring Moomin to a new generation.

The new characters (pictured above) display an innovative design style, combining state of the art 3D and computer-generated imagery, while also staying true to the much-loved illustrated characteristics.

The characters have also been thoroughly analysed to provide the writers with an understanding of their motivations, desires, fears and flaws – and to make sure their personalities will be presented on screen the way Tove Jansson created them.
