Why we’re backing the B&LLAs: Pringles

“Brand licensing puts stability into the industry” says Pink Key Consulting md, Richard Pink.

The licensing of brands helps to bring stability to the overall industry, the md of Pink Key Consulting, Richard Pink, has told The Source.

The Pringles brand – which is handled by Pink Key Consulting – is the sponsor of the Best Licensed Brand Home and Garden Product or Range award at the inaugural Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards in April.

Richard commented: “I’ve been in the licensing industry long enough to know that consumers are a fickle lot; every brand has its lifecycle. Some are longer than others, but inevitably all brands begin a descent into decline.

“In an industry that is so heavily dominated by children’s brands, the lifecycles tend to be shorter as generations come and go, we’ve seen properties that looked unassailable drop off the popularity cliff seemingly overnight.

“This is why the licensing of brands is so very important, because brand licensing puts some stability into what could otherwise be an extremely volatile and unpredictable industry.”

Richard believes that brand licensing can give agents, licensees and retailers a balanced portfolio, giving them a chance to generate long-term income.

“I’m supporting these awards because I would like to see others doing the same, and not to neglect these brands even when the temptation is to throw everything at the latest hottest thing,” he said.

The Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards takes place at The Dorchester, Park Lane on Wednesday, April 20.

Other partners on board include Advanstar/Brand Licensing Europe (headline sponsor), LIMA, Emerald Exhibitions, Brands With Influence, Hallett Retail, Beanstalk, Start Licensing, CPLG, Discovery, IFL Science, Kimm & Miller, Octane 5, Golden Goose, TLC, JCB, Happy Jackson, TLP and Spring Fair.
