Why we’re backing the B&LLAs: Happy Jackson

Sponsoring Best Department Store/Mixed Retailer Licensed Brand Retailer Execution.

Brand licensing is being picked up by some really exciting designers and truly creative licensees, helping to drive the category even further, according to the founders of Happy Jackson.

Happy Jackson – which was launched by Giles Andreae and Heather Flynn in 2012 as a boutique collection of homewares, gifts and greeting cards – is sponsoring the Best Department Store or Mixed Retailer Licensed Brand Retailer Execution at the B&LLAs.

Giles and Heather explained to The Source: “Brand licensing seems to be going from strength to strength, driven often by a few key homewares properties, but trickling through to some really exciting designers and truly creative licensees, whose interpretation of design onto product is often as creative as the concepts behind them.

“Retailers are getting progressively more familiar with the value of critical mass when it comes to rolling a brand out through their stores into various categories – and consumers seem to like the ideas of being able to associate themselves and their lifestyles with the brands that they aspire to.”

Giles and Heather said that people buy into design and entertainment brands for very different reasons.

“It’s wonderful to have an arena for design-led brands to be recognised without being crowded out by the noise that big, global media companies can make, and where originality and creativity can really shine,” they continued.

The Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards takes place at The Dorchester, Park Lane on Wednesday, April 20.

Other partners on board include Advanstar/Brand Licensing Europe (headline sponsor), LIMA, Emerald Exhibitions, Brands With Influence, Hallett Retail, Beanstalk, Start Licensing, CPLG, Discovery, Pringles, JCB Consumer Products, Octane 5, Golden Goose, TLC, IFL Science, Kimm & Miller, TLP, Spring Fair and Perfetti van Melle.
