Why we’re backing the B&LLAs: Discovery

Discovery Consumer Products is the sponsor of Best Specialist Licensed Brand Retailer Execution.

The svp of Discovery Global Enterprises, Nicholas Bonard, believes that the longevity associated with the brand licensing sector means it is becoming increasingly important.

Discovery has pledged its support to the inaugural Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards, sponsoring the Best Specialist Licensed Brand Retail Execution.

Talking about brand licensing, Nicholas explained to The Source: “Rather than being focused on an individual character or series property with potentially limited life expectancy, there is a focus on a sustainable entity that can stand alone at retail for a prolonged period of time.”

Nicholas believes that Discovery Consumer Products has continued to flourish because of its ability to create brands that are routed in the core Discovery DNA.

He said: “Discovery Expedition as an example, the one and only outdoor apparel and lifestyle brand to encompass the Discovery DNA, continues to see significant growth throughout the Asian market and is not tied to one program or event. Focusing on the Discovery mission of exploration and curiosity, the brand has managed to develop a strong following in the market and only continues to thrive and expand.”

Nicholas continued: “We are excited to participate in the launch of the inaugural Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards, which truly celebrates the achievements of those licensors and retailers who are incredibly passionate about what they do, and recognise them for the hard work required to evolve the brands so they continuously resonate with consumers.”

The Brand & Lifestyle Licensing Awards takes place at The Dorchester, Park Lane on Wednesday, April 20.

Other partners on board include Advanstar/Brand Licensing Europe (headline sponsor), LIMA, Emerald Exhibitions, Golden Goose, Hallett Retail, Beanstalk, Start Licensing, CPLG, Brands With Influence, IFL Science, Kimm & Miller, Octane 5, Pringles, TLC, JCB, Happy Jackson, TLP and Spring Fair.
