Burgon & Ball’s Ruth Posey talks RHS, Sophie Conran and new launches at GLEE.
Now that we’re half way through 2019, Source catches up with a selection of licensees to find out how the year has been so far, the main challenges and big successes and what hopes they have for the remainder of the year.
Today: Ruth Posey, sales director, Burgon & Ball
“We have had a hugely busy start to the year, with new product launches as well as the general on going political and economic uncertainty creating their own challenges.
In particular, our new RHS Gifts for Gardeners British Bloom gift collection was enthusiastically received last autumn and enjoyed a successful first Christmas, and it continued to sell well for Mother’s Day. We’ve also seen reinvigorated sales for the Flora and Fauna RHS Gifts collection; it was even featured in Oprah’s ‘Favourite Things’ list late last year.
Plus, of course, our RHS-endorsed tools continue to enjoy good sales, supported by a warm spring and a late Easter. We’ve really seen the uplift especially in sales of spades and forks, as the ground thawed and gardeners were able to get into the garden.
We’re looking forward to launching more licensed products in the autumn at the GLEE trade show. These will include new additions to our popular Sophie Conran for Burgon & Ball collection of items for home and garden.”
