“We’re in a very good place”, Rovio’s svp of brand licensing tells The Source.
Rovio’s svp of brand licensing – Simo Hämäläinen – has told The Source that the company is in a “very good place” from a licensing point of view right now.
Speaking at Brand Licensing Europe earlier this month, Simo (pictured) said that Rovio has its “best content pipeline coming up”.
This includes The Angry Birds Movie 2 – due to hit cinemas in 2019 – plus a new long-form animation series planned for 2020, location-based entertainment experiences and a TV competition show among others.
Rovio also announced the development of ‘Project Magic’ at the show, a new augmented reality app which is planned for 2019 that will connect licensed Angry Birds products with the digital Angry Birds universe.
The company believes that it has its strongest line-up of licensing partners to date. In the last month alone, it has joined forces with Grammy Award-winning band Imagine Dragons and the Tyler Robinson Foundation to fight pediatric cancer; revealed Jazwares as its new master toy partner,;and teamed up with Edukie and Maisto for new toys and products in the US.
