Relive last week’s industry showcase, networking events, awards and more.

Last week’s Licensing Week – and the three-day Licensing Expo – saw thousands of execs packing through the doors of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas during the period.

The entertainment presentations, news, star performers, brands to watch and deals came thick and fast, with something to suit pretty much everyone on the show floor.

The show opened with the news that global retail sales of licensed merchandise and services grew to $280.3 billion in 2018, a 3.2% increase over the $271.6 billion generated in 2017, according to topline results of the 5th Annual Global Licensing Survey, released by Licensing International.

Other headline grabbing news included Mattel and Sanrio joining forces on the Hello Kitty portfolio; Activision Blizzard revealing a host of deals across its portfolio; Blue’s Clues getting a reboot for a new generation of fans; Hasbro teaming with Wicked Cool Toys to bring back Micro Machines; LEGO and Universal Brands Development tying up on Trolls World Tour; Fortnite picking up five accolades at the International Licensing Awards; Jazwares being named master toy licensee for Sony Pictures Consumer Products’ Vivo; and Rachel Shechtman, founder of STORY and Macy’s brand experience officer presenting a keynote on the role experiences play in retail.
