Cosplay character parade will be closing event for 11-day London Games Festival.
11 days of video games celebration will begin on March 30 as the London Games Festival returns – with the culminating character parade seeing a raft of iconic characters and cosplayers taking to the streets of the capital.
The London Games Festival Games Character Parade will focus solely on characters and icons from video games, potentially making it the biggest gathering of its type in the UK.
Hundreds are expected to attend as part of the parade or as spectators along the route or at Paternoster Square.
It is open to cosplayers (‘costume play’) of any experience level and will take place on April 8, kicking off from Guildhall Yard. It will culminate in a ‘catwalk’ showcase of the cosplayers and characters in Paternoster Square, hosted by drag queen games developer Kitty Powers.
London Games Festival runs from March 30 to April 9 and is organised by Games London, a partnership between the capital’s screen industries agency Film London and games trade body Ukie, supported by the Mayor of London’s London Economic Action Partnership (LEAP).
The parade is organised by Games London and supported by the City of London Corporation.
It is just one of over 40 cultural or B2B events taking place across 30 venues during the Festival, including the BAFTA Games Awards (April 6) and unique music concert Dear Esther Live (April 1).
