V&A teams with People Tree for sixth collection

New nine-piece range with ethical fashion retailer coincides with Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk exhibition.

The V&A is launching its sixth collection with ethical fashion retailer, People Tree.

The new 2020 Spring range has been inspired by traditional kimono held in the V&A’s extensive Asian collection, with the prints redrawn from Japanese garments of the early 19th century and reimagined in vibrant colour palettes.

The collection features bamboo and floral designs, in addition to distinctive wide sleeves and exaggerated silhouettes.

The arrival of the nine-piece range comes during an exciting year for Japan and coincides with the V&A’s launch of the new exhibition, Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk, which opens on February 29.
