Visage Textiles on board with new collaboration, while DMC reports ‘unprecedented surge’ for embroidery products.
The V&A has turned the focus onto the crafting category – one of a number of sectors which have experienced a boom during lockdown.
The Museum has revealed a new collaboration with Manchester-based Visage Textiles. Launching in the autumn, the V&A collection will feature popular William Morris designs including Larkspur and Pimpernel, as well as a collection of Alice in Wonderland designs (pictured) inspired by prints, drawings and novelty fabrics from the V&A archives.
The 100% cotton fabrics are described as being ideal for crafts, displays, table decorations and dress fabrics.
Meanwhile – while needlecraft was enjoying a resurgence prior to lockdown (partially driven by a growing interest in mindfulness, sustainable fashion and customisation) – since March, DMC has seen an ‘unprecedented surge’ in demand for its embroidery products.
Its range of needlepoint kits are inspired by the extensive collection of textiles and patterns from the V&A’s archives.
Following the company’s successful Arts & Crafts kits, the latest range includes four vibrant Art Deco floral designs based on the work of French Art Nouveau painter, Edouard Bénédictus.
