V&A readies for Decorex appearance

Museum to make debut showing at interiors event at the weekend.

The V&A Museum is to showcase for the first time at Decorex International this weekend.

The interior design show – which runs from September 17-20 at Syon Park, London – opens the London Design Festival 2017; the V&A is a long standing partner of the event and is its official hub for the ninth year.

V&A Interiors encompasses a variety of products including paint, wall art, upholstery fabrics and floor coverings, allowing individuals to welcome the creative spirit of the museum into their home.

The V&A Interiors booth will feature five home interior licensees which have collaborated with the museum to produce a cohesive display of inspired décor, featuring: the V&A Classic Paint Collection of 40 distinctive colours inspired by the Museum’s unique architecture and decorative interiors; an exclusive collection of photographic prints featuring themes of fashion, architecture and performance by Galerie Prints; breath-taking oversize murals and canvases by Surface View; exquisite furnishing fabrics from Arley House; and stylish wall and floor tiles from British Ceramic Tile.

The V&A’s licensees are inspired by textiles, decorations, wallpapers and prints from the museum’s collections. These include works by some of the greatest names in design, alongside the work of anonymous designers whose aesthetic originality and technical virtuosity are less well-known.

Licensees gather details from the museum’s best objects including pattern books, swatch books, company archives, design records and catalogues to form an introduction to the variety and beauty of pattern at the museum.

Ranging from beautifully intricate florals, geometric motifs, exquisite Asian, Indian and Middle Eastern artistry, to glamourous Art Deco patterns, there is something to suit every home.
