Museum highlights collections from Museums & Galleries and Papier, plus new additions to its Tmall store in China.
V&A marked National Stationery Week last week (April 20-26) by shining a spotlight on its stationery licensees and their museum-inspired products.
Museums & Galleries continues to translate the V&A’s archive into art and design-led greeting cards and gift stationery.
Recent additions to its popular Edward Lear Bird range include a practical storage box, pencil case and coloured pencil set, plus a mini desk calendar. The company has also introduced four new glass paperweights.
Meanwhile, Papier has released its latest collection with two new designs. ‘Baroque Border’ is inspired by a unique design for woven silk held in the V&A archives by Huguenot designer and master weaver, James Leman – who was one of the key figures of the 18th century silk industry of Spitalfields, London.
In addition, ‘Blue Floral Porcelain’ is reminiscent of the dainty floral work seen on traditional fine bone china.
Finally, April has also seen the launch of new stationery ranges on V&A’s Tmall flagship store in China.
The featured notebooks and journals showcase the Arts and Crafts heritage from designers and makers such as William Morris, C.F.A. Voysey and William De Morgan, collected by the V&A since the museum first opened in 1852.
