Usain Bolt races into UK restaurant scene

Deal with SME Group will see 15 Tracks & Records restaurants open in the UK.

The fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, is racing into the UK restaurant scene following his retirement from the track.

Franjam, the Jamaican franchise company in which Usain is a partner, has secured a deal with SME Group to open 15 Tracks & Records restaurants across the UK in the next five years.

Tracks & Records opened in Kingston, Jamaica in 2011, with its first franchise in the country opening last year.

The menu includes jerk pork and pan chicken, fish sandwiches, rice and peas, curried mutton and ‘burgers a la Usain’.

SME Group company director and ceo, Aly Esmail, told the Caterer: “We are pleased to add this incredible Jamaican brand to our growing number of franchises across the world.

“This partnership with Usain Bolt and the Tracks & Records brand will allow us to introduce an experience to our markets here in the UK that is as close as it gets to actually visiting the island and will give them a real taste of Jamaica.”

Usain added: “I’m happy to be able to share a taste of the Jamaica that I know and love with the rest of the world through the opening of these restaurants across the UK.”
