Global brands triumph at LIMA Licensing Awards

Shopkins, Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Peppa Pig among winners at annual awards.

It was a big night for the UK’s Peppa Pig, Doctor Who, Downton Abbey and Lovehoney, who were all among the international brands and companies feted in the 2016 LIMA International Licensing Awards.

The event was held following a busy first day of Licensing Expo (Tuesday June 21) at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, and was hosted by comedian and entertainer Mike Hammer.

“The awards this year really are a celebration of licensing excellence from around the world,” Charles Riotto, president of LIMA, told The Source.

“We received entries from 15 different countries and over 20% of our winners are from outside the US.”

Danny Simon, founder of The Licensing Group, was inducted into the LIMA Hall of Fame.

In a heartfelt acceptance speech, Danny paid tribute to the uniqueness of the licensing industry for its fellowship and camaraderie.

He said: “It’s good to give back, because you always get back more than you give.”
