The eagerly anticipated collaboration between Anya Hindmarch and Uniqlo has hit stores today (23 November).
The new winter 2023 collection looks to fuse Uniqlo’s ‘iconic simplicity’ with the designer’s passion for creativity and craftsmanship.
Signature Uniqlo knitwear shapes have been reimagined with Anya Hindmarch’s creative handwriting, with deconstructed details, hand-inspired stitching and seaming details, all overseen by the Anya Eyes.
“I believe the exceptional creativity and modern craftsmanship of Anya Hindmarch, along with its philosophy of valuing customers, fits well with the Uniqlo approach to clothes-making,” commented Yukihiro Katsuta, group senior executive officer at Uniqlo parent company, Fast Retailing, and head of Uniqlo R&D. “The infusion of its trademark humour into Uniqlo essential items creates an exciting new collection of LifeWear that we hope will warm the body and mind this holiday season.”
Anya Hindmarch added: “It was an honour to collaborate with Uniqlo, especially working on knitwear, as they’re so known for their iconic knitwear. I decided not to mess with their brilliant silhouettes, but instead to play with them; deconstructing and then rebuilding them with different stitches and exposed seams – and in turn leaving all sorts of little design details to make pulling on your knitwear the favourite part of your day.”
