Icelandic character brand also enjoying strong start for flagship store.
Icelandic design-led character brand Tulipop has enjoyed a strong start to 2018, securing its first children’s outdoor apparel range from new licensee 66° North, a retail award for its flagship store in Reykjavik, and a LIMA International Licensing Awards nomination for its blind box figurines from Toynami.
Launched at the Icelandic annual design festival Design March, the new apparel collection from 66° North features items for newborns through to young adults.
Best sellers include light sweaters, t-shirts, hoodies and caps.
Meanwhile, the Tulipop flagship store recently won Freyjusómi, the award for best new addition to Reykjavík main shopping street in 2018. To further raise the store’s profile Tulipop has hired travel PR agency White Tiger PR to run a programme targeting tourists visiting Iceland from the UK and elsewhere.
Continuing the successful year-to-date, Toynami’s blind box collectable character figurine range has been nominated for a LIMA International Licensing Award in the category Licensed Products: Toys/Games/Novelties/Role-Play (0-12).
Helga Árnadóttir, Tulipop’s ceo, said: “Tulipop has really had a flying start to 2018. We are thrilled by the reaction to our flagship store and are a step closer to realising our dream of every tourist visiting Iceland going home with a piece of Tulipop merchandise.
“As big fans of 66° North we are delighted to be working with the team to create a stylish and colourful apparel line. Finally, we are overwhelmed by the news that our products have been recognised by the industry and nominated for a top LIMA award.”
