Top licences line up in BAFTA Children’s Awards shortlist

Peppa Pig, The Clangers, Hey Duggee and Adventure Time among nominees for prestigious accolades.

The team behind Peppa Pig are today celebrating the property’s ninth nomination for Preschool: Animation at the BAFTA Children’s Awards.

The show is among a raft of top licensed properties which have received nominations this year. As well as the animation category, Peppa Pig has also been nominated for the fourth time in the Writer category (for Neville Astley).

“We are all thrilled about the latest BAFTA nominations for Peppa Pig,” Andrew Carley, head of global licensing at eOne, told The Source. “The strength and quality of the content has always been central to the success of the brand and the continued recognition of awards like this reinforces the message that Peppa is a true evergreen.”

Peppa Pig will line-up alongside The Clangers, Hey Duggee and Lily’s Driftwood Bay in Preschool: Animation.

Meanwhile, Inside Out, Shaun the Sheep: The Movie, Big Hero 6 and Paddington will fight it out in the Feature Film category.

Adventure Time has been nominated in the International category, while The Amazing World of Gumball, Strange Hill High, Shaun the Sheep and Mr Bean The Animated Series get nods in the Animation category.

The shortlist for the BAFTA Kids Vote was revealed on Tuesday.

The BAFTA Children’s Awards will take place on Sunday November 22 at The Roundhouse, London and will be hosted by Doc Brown.
