The popular Tom Gates character is to star in a new touring theatre show, kicking off in April and covering 45 dates.
Based on the bestselling books published by Scholastic and the award-winning Sky Kids and Now TV series created by Liz Pichon and TG Entertainment, Tom Gates EPIC Stage Show brings to life the characters, illustrations and music that have made Tom Gates a success around the world.
It will begin at The Rose Theatre in Kingston-upon-Thames on 17 April, before embarking on a 45-date tour around the UK.
“Tom Gates has a legion of extremely engaged and loyal young fans who are always looking for new opportunities to connect with his unique blend of life experiences and creativity in addition to enjoying the books and TV series,” commented Liz Keynes, commercial director at TG Entertainment. “This exhilarating live show brings Tom and his friends’ antics to life in a brilliant way for the whole family to enjoy.”
Clare Piggott, md at Larkshead Licensing, which is UK licensing agent for Tom Gates, added: “We are incredibly honoured to have been entrusted with furthering the licensing journey for this schoolboy and his hilarious misadventures. What a fantastic way to start as we join Tom and his friends on an epic tour around the country to inspire children to pick up pens, pencils and paintbrushes and explore their creative sides.”
Liz Pichon’s multi-award-winning Tom Gates book series has sold more than 16.5 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 47 languages. The 23 novels, in handwritten font with Tom’s doodles and pictures embellishing the text, document in hilarious detail his everyday trials and tribulations at home and school.
The TV spin-off – The Brilliant World of Tom Gates – now has three series, plus Christmas and Halloween specials.
