Former DC Thomson, Endemol, HIT executive establishes his own consultancy company.
Tim Collins – who most recently headed up IP acquisition and consumer marketing at DC Thomson – has launched his own consulting company called The Brand Director.
The company will advise small to medium IP owners on how best to extend their brands and generate new revenue streams from a variety of activities. These will include merchandise, TV, film, theatre shows, live events, digital and retail.
The Brand Director’s clients are likely to be companies contemplating their first steps in brand extension and existing players who want to undertake a strategic review. It will also be available for interim management assignments.
Tim will head the new company, which, as well as maintaining a highly skilled and permanent staff, will bring in associates to advise on specific and technical aspects when relevant.
As well as DC Thomson, Tim has also held roles at Telstar Records, CPLG, Universal Studios – where he helped to set up its first UK office as director of licensing – HIT Entertainment, DreamWorks and Endemol during his career.
Tim said: “The Brand Director isn’t a traditional licensing agent or consultancy. There are plenty of excellent companies out there doing great work in those fields.
“However, there is a shortage of informed, unbiased advice for IP owners wishing to expand their brands. That is where we come in.”
