Thumbs Up has partnered with Cloudco Entertainment to introduce the Care Bears ‘Kea Kuma’ digital pet – a new take on the classic brand, bringing nostalgic play into the digital age.
The digital pet allows fans to care and nurture for their favourite Care Bears characters, engaging in feeding, playing and nurturing interactions with their digital companion. With an interactive screen, collectable features and signature Care Bears magic, the ‘Kea Kuma’ blends 90s nostalgia with modern tech.
Designed in the Care Bears Unlock the Magic style, ‘Kea Kuma’ (which means ‘Care Bears’ in Japanese) brings a vibrant and refreshed aesthetic to the digital pet world.
“The Care Bears brand has always been synonymous with love, sharing and friendship,” commented Henri Salameh, svp global commercial director at Santok Group, which owns Thumbs Up. “With Kea Kuma, we are bringing those values to life in a way that speaks to both long-time fans and a new generation of children. We have designed from scratch a product that is true to the life of the Care Bears while embracing the digital evolution of toys. I mean, just look at how cool these look.”
Tanya Dervish, head of licensing at Thumbs Up, continued: “Being a child of the 80’s, Care Bears holds such a special place in my heart. Care Bears has always been a leader in creating emotional bonds through play, and Kea Kuma takes that to the next level. By combining digital interaction with the charm of Care Bears, we are excited to offer fans a product that will connect generations and bring joy.”
Katie Wilkinson, senior licensing manager EMEA at Cloudco Entertainment, added: “Care Bears is known for bringing people together through love, kindness, and fun. The Care Bears ‘Kea Kuma’ Digital Pet perfectly captures that spirit, combining nostalgia with interactive play that appeals to fans of all ages. We’re thrilled to be working with Thumbs Up to introduce this exciting new way for fans to engage with Care Bears and can’t wait to see it become a favourite among collectors and kids alike.”
