“There are some positives to be drawn from 2019”

MV Sports’ Phil Ratcliffe on why this year has been a good one for product innovation.

2019 has already been an eventful year, but arguably there’s more drama to come.

Source catches up with a selection of licensees to ask what they feel are both the positives and the challenges that lie ahead for the remainder of the year.

Today: Phil Ratcliffe, sales and marketing director, MV Sports

“There are some positives to be drawn from 2019 in that it has been a good year for both licences and product innovation.

Toy Story 4 has been a big success and everyone is looking forward to Frozen II in the run up to Christmas. Our new UMove scooter brand and licensed Dream Dens have started very well indeed.

Any positivity, however, is tempered by the increasing likelihood of a no deal Brexit and a subsequent negative impact on sterling and consumer confidence in 2020.”
