Homer will read the news of the day in three-minute stunt.
For the first time in its 27 year history, The Simpsons will feature a special three-minute live segment, airing in the US on May 15.
The stunt will see Homer Simpson read the news of the day, in a way only he can, as well as potentially answering questions from fans via social media.
The live move is possible thanks to advances in motion capture technology, according to the show’s executive producer Al Jean. Animators will be able to record and reproduce an actor’s movements using sensors.
Dan Castellaneta, the voice of Homer, will be in the studio, with his voice and movements translated into what Homer does on screen.
The rest of the episode will be in the usual animation.
Fans are being encouraged to tweet their questions to Homer using the hashtag #HomerLive between Sunday May 1 and Wednesday May 4.
