The Northern Light Fund Quiz Night is cancelled

Licensing International Speed Pitching – due to also take place on March 25 – also cancelled.

The Light Fund has confirmed that the Northern Quiz Night – which was due to take place at Hotel Football in Manchester on Wednesday March 25 – has been cancelled.

In addition, the Licensing International Speed Pitching event, which was scheduled to take place ahead of the quiz on the same day, has also been cancelled.

“We have all, I’m sure, been monitoring the coronavirus situation closely in recent times,” said Trevor Jones, chairman of The Light Fund. “In the last few days events seem to have escalated somewhat, with the next two to three weeks being expected to be the peak of infection in the UK. Many companies are now instructing their staff to work from home and cancel any travel plans.

“So, in order to safeguard all our friends, colleagues and supporters, The Light Fund has decided to cancel this year’s Northern Quiz in Manchester on 25th March.”

Trevor continued: “For those who have booked tickets we have three options for you: either to turn the booking into a donation to The Light Fund, retain the booking for the 2021 quiz or a refund. As The Light Fund have incurred costs, we hope that the first option works for some people.

“The good news is that The Light Fund Northern quiz will be back in 2021, taking place on either 24th or 25th March at Hotel Football (depending on football fixtures). Hotel Football have also said that if guests contact them, they will either cancel or move room bookings to the new date.”

Meanwhile, Kelvyn Gardner, UK md of Licensing International, said that, regrettably, the organisation would be following The Light Fund’s lead and cancelling the planned speed pitching event.

Kelvyn commented: “On Wednesday we received news that The Light Fund Northern Quiz night had been cancelled due to the coronavirus. Over and above this, already that same morning three agencies cancelled their participation in our event due to corporate coronavirus policy. Regrettably, therefore, we have had to follow The Light Fund’s lead and cancel our own event.

“I’d like to sincerely thank those licensors, licensing agencies and licensees who booked places in Manchester for their enthusiasm in supporting this new event of ours – it is much appreciated. Refunds will be processed in the coming days, and we will look to reschedule the event once the pandemic is over.”
