Mediatoon Licensing appoints Those Licensing People for vintage and CGI versions.
Those Licensing People has kicked off the New Year by becoming the UK agent for The Magic Roundabout.
The deal – secured with French agency Mediatoon Licensing – covers both the vintage and CGI versions of the property.
The French stop motion animated series was created in 1963 by Serge Danot and quickly attained cult status in the UK. At its peak, the show attracted an audience of eight million viewers.
In 2005, a CGI animated film was launched with an all-star voice cast including Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Jim Broadbent, Joanna Lumley, Bill Nighy and Ian McKellen.
Those Licensing People – which coincidentally shares a home town of Leeds with the series’ animator, Ivor Wood – is looking to tap into the current nostalgia trend with the relaunch of The Magic Roundabout.
Categories being targeted include stationery, gift, apparel, fashion accessories and homewares.
