The Licensing Awards 2019: The Retail winners

Sainsbury’s Argos, Primark, Clarks and Home Bargains all crowned.

Four major retail names walked away victorious in Tuesday night’s Licensing Awards’ retailer award categories.

It was a great night for Primark – with the fashion retailer walking away with a hat trick of accolades.

It scooped Best Retailer of Kids’ Licensed Products (6-16) (sponsored by Universal), Best Retailer of Adult Licensed Products (sponsored by Warner Bros. Consumer Products) and the Top Retailer award (sponsored by Mattel).

A delighted Sarah Jackson, global buying director licensing at Primark, told Source: “These wins just go to prove that Primark is for everyone, from kids all the way up to adults. I am so proud; we have an amazing team at Primark and we love licensing.”

Sainsbury’s Argos was victorious in the Best Retailer of Preschool Licensed Products (0-5) (sponsored by eOne) category. Vicky Ingram, Sainsbury’s Argos’ dress-up buyer, commented: “It’s really great to be recognised. The team has worked so hard and it has paid off.”

The Radar Award (sponsored by WildBrain) – for retailers which have upped their licensing activities in the past 12 months – went to Home Bargains.

Helen Lynch, licensing and range manager of Home Bargains, told Source: “I am so pleased and would like to say thank you to all the team. We’ve worked hard to increase our presence in licensing and this award is the culmination of that work.”

Finally, the Best Licensing Retail Marketing Initiative accolade (sponsored by Centum Books) was awarded to an ecstatic Clarks for its National Geographic Photo Ark Collection.

Gemma Green, marketing manager for kids at Clarks, commented: “It was such a joy to work with National Geographic on such a groundbreaking project and it is great to be recognised at an event like this.”
