The Licensing Awards 2016: The winners

Retail, Product, Property, Marketing and Honorary Achievement winners crowned in glittering ceremony.

The winners of this year’s Licensing Awards have been crowned in a glittering ceremony, presided over by Tim Vine, which saw almost 1,500 retailers, licensors, licensees and industry executives pack into The Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

The assembled crowd was treated to a number of surprises throughout the evening. These included a message from the Cookie Monster himself and a special visit to The Great British Bake Off tent, which produced some rather ‘inventive’ creations.

Pre-awards entertainment was also provided by Warner Bros. this time celebrating Wonder Woman’s 75th with IMD Legion – as seen on Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor – and the phenomenal vocal talent, Gabriella Champkins.

Awards goers were also treated to a dinner aperitif to make them tingle from the Disney Voices Choir.

“This industry never ceases to amaze me,” said Jakki Brown, joint md of Max Publishing, the organiser and owner of the Licensing Awards. “It is absolutely extraordinary the level of support and commitment everyone in the licensing community has given to make the UK Licensing Awards and tonight something for us all to be truly proud of.

“It’s great that BLE is totally on board as our headline sponsor and that we also have the full support of LIMA, the licensing industry’s trade association. Just think, we have the entire industry under these glittering chandeliers. Thank you for making it happen.”

The ceremony built to an emotional finale, as Ian Downes – md of Start Licensing – was presented with the Honorary Achievement award to a standing ovation.
