The Lagoon Group geared up for 2018 after acquisition

Gifting games and puzzles specialist was purchased by Searainbow Group in 2017.

Gifting games and puzzles specialist The Lagoon Group is looking forward to a strong 2018 following its acquisition last year by Asia-based Searainbow Group.

The acquisition of Lagoon brings the number of Searainbow’s UK-based businesses to three.

In 2015 Searainbow acquired one of the UK’s market leaders in educational games, The Green Board Game Company, and in 2016 it purchased Flights of Fancy, award-winning designers of nature-based discovery products and traditional games.

Heather Watherston (pictured), md of The Lagoon Group, is to become Searainbow’s vp international, with responsibility for all European and North American businesses from March 1, 2018.

Heather said: “I am delighted to take on this new role and very much look forward to working with the whole Searainbow team. It’s a very exciting time, as the Searainbow directors are fully committed to investing in and growing all lines of business.

“We will continue to run operating units independently, but, as a larger group, there will be shared commercial development opportunities which will allow us to offer customers a bigger, better and more diverse range of own-brand and licensed products.”

Searainbow board member Gary Wyatt, founder of Green Board Games, added: “We are thrilled that Heather has accepted this role and with Heather driving the development of our international businesses, we are looking forward to providing all our business partners within the UK, European and North American markets an expanded selection of great brands.

“Lagoon will be exhibiting at New York Now in February, and we hope to have an established presence in America before the close of 2018.”
