The Great British Exchange launches The Bake Off Box

Monthly subscription service gives fans the chance to take GBBO ‘from their sitting room into their kitchen’.

The Great British Exchange has launched The Bake Off Box – a monthly subscription service that sends subscribers a monthly recipe and ingredients along with a unique, collectable piece of The Great British Bake Off baking and cake decorating equipment.

Produced under licence from Love Productions (the creator of GBBO), The Bake off Box is described by Matthew Hopkins, founder and managing director of Great British Exchange, as “a true celebration of GBBO,” giving “fans of the show the opportunity to take Bake Off from their sitting room into their kitchen”.

The project has been in progress for nearly two years, although The Great British Exchange recognises the huge rise in home baking this year, noting the 20.5% increase in frequency in the purchase of home baking items compared to 2019.

The Great British Bake Off team has designed the pieces of baking equipment included in the box, as well as creating the recipes and illustrations, and selecting the ingredients. The first box will include a cake stand and Signature Chocolate Cake recipe.

Working with housewares suppliers around the globe, including the UK wherever possible, Matthew confirmed: “Our primary objective is to make sure that we source from suppliers who are able to provide products of a suitable quality and price and can deliver the volume required to suit the demand for The Bake Off Box.”

The Bake Off Box subscription is pitched as an ideal Christmas gift for home bakers, with each recipe suitable for all skill levels, and monthly home deliveries start from February 2021.

Becca Watson, home economist for GBBO, commented: “We know how many are inspired to bake when the show is on air. The Bake Off Box takes that one step further, delivering the recipes direct to your door, so that everyone can join in, test their skills and get a taste of what they see on screen.

From each box sold, 50p will be donated to Stand Up To Cancer, the charity campaign GBBO supports through its series of celebrity specials.
