Designer highlights the characters in her autumn 2017 collection print.
Beano Studios’ classic comic strip series The Dandy has taken a starring role in Stella McCartney’s autumn 2017 collection print.
The designer has highlighted the mischievous characters from the comic in a dynamic bold print, featured in her ready-to-wear designs.
Stella pays homage to the series by featuring images of three classic characters printed on organic cotton, denim and knitwear pieces. The lively and nostalgic prints of Korky the Cat, the cover star in the very first edition in 1937; Dinah Mo, an indefatigable ten year old girl who caused mischief and chaos wherever she went; and Cuddles and Dimples, two mischievous twins, come to life in 15 signature pieces.
Styles include an all-in-one, outwear jackets lined with the print, easy dresses and separates, t-shirts, intarsias knits, denim jeans and a sweatshirt with embroidery appliqué.
The collection will be available in stores from May. Retail prices range from £170 for a t-shirt to £1,260 for a parka.
Stella commented: “The humour and artistry of comic strip animation touches your heart and your memory bank.
“In this collaboration, fun and fashion go hand in hand and we are able to incorporate sustainable, stylish, timeless pieces, while celebrating the inner child in our spirit.”
