The Bright Group reveals new creative shop for children in London.
The Bright Group International has opened the doors to its latest initiative – a creative shop for children called The Bright Emporium.
Officially launched with two events on November 10 and 12, The Bright Emporium is based in Clapham, London and is a children’s events space, retailer of books and art gallery for Bright’s artists.
The launch event included an exhibition – Where The Story Began – as shown at the Barbican to open The Children’s Bookseller Conference this year.
It showed the art work of ten artists including Benji Davies, Yasmeen Ismail and Sue Hendra. The gallery pieces show each artist sharing the inspiration for their illustrations and children’s books being born.
Founder and owner Vicki Willden-Lebrecht (pictured) said: “Books just don’t arrive; they are a creative process of ideas, storytelling and messages.
“They are also the drawings, the characters, the colours and the landscapes, sewn and stitched together. This will be a reactive and creative space for illustrators, children and parents.”
The Emporium opened to the public on November 14 with artists reading and craft events. The following day, Julia Patton led Story Time on Sunday with Fat Fox Publishing and BBC Children in Need’s new book, The Curious Tale of Fi-Rex.
