The Amazing Maurice ready to take on licensing

Cantilever Media is embarking on a consumer products campaign for its upcoming Sky original animated feature, The Amazing Maurice.

Based on one of Sir Terry Pratchett’s popular Discworld novels, the film – which stars Hugh Laurie as Maurice and other high profile names including Emilia Clarke, David Thewlis, Gemma Arterton, Joe Sugg, Rob Brydon, David Tennant and Hugh Bonneville among others – is set to debut in 2022 on Sky Cinema in the UK.

Titan Books is already on board as publishing partner, with plans to produce a detailed hardback coffee table art book, The Amazing Maurice: The Art of the Film, which will be release to coincide with the movie launch.

In addition, Forbidden Planet will be launching an eclectic product range based on The Amazing Maurice including adult t-shirts, children’s t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts and scarves, as well as an extensive line of gift and home product and accessories.

Cantilever and Ulysses – which is a producer of the movie – have also launched a dedicated website for The Amazing Maurice to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the book first being published. The website features a link to the brand new e-commerce store which will showcase a bespoke range of apparel, accessories and gifts initially targeted at Terry Pratchett’s core fanbase, and extending out to the wider movie family audience.

Cantilever has partnered with Val Fry of Fryday Brands to further build a consumer products range across key categories to include digital and board games, plush, stationery, gifting and apparel.

“The Amazing Maurice has a broad appeal spanning a wide audience of both dedicated Terry Pratchett fans and also family movie lovers,” commented Val. “We are excited by the reactions and conversations with licensing partners and look forward to expanding the world of Maurice to fans new and old.”
