Tesco extends personalised Star Wars range

‘Outstanding’ Christmas success means Disney range will remain permanent option at retailer.

Tesco is to continue its personalised Star Wars product offering online following ‘outstanding’ success over the Christmas period.

The range – featuring products including stationery, mugs, posters and more – first launched on Tesco Direct to coincide with the Christmas period following a partnership with Disney UK.

Customers were able to choose from a collection of 36 products and personalise them, creating special gifts by adding names and choosing colours and backgrounds.

New products are now set to join the range over the coming months.

Mike Stagg, svp and gm integrated retail UK/Ireland & E-Commerce EMEA at The Walt Disney Company, said: “We are seeing an increase in consumers wanting something special and personal to them or the person they are buying for, and not just in the Christmas buying season.

“Our Star Wars personalised product range proved a huge success at Tesco and demonstrates the demand for more customisable products that allow fans to show their excitement and passion for franchises like this.”

Rachel Wakley, head of licensing at Tesco, added: “We know customers love to personalise gifts and the Star Wars range has proved to be a big hit; where the choice of design and colourway, as well as the option to add messaging or names, has really delivered against the growing demand for more tailored, individual products.

“We are really excited to extend this range in 2016, to offer even greater choice and enjoyment.”
