Anderson Entertainment has revealed that Terrahawks – the popular 1983 series about a task force protecting the Earth from extra-terrestrial androids and aliens – is inspiring new broadcast and retail activity.
This includes the arrival of the original show on one of the UK’s most popular streaming services, new audio episodes and a 21st century reboot, plus a new t-shirt and a Halloween mask.
Terrahawks has now debuted on the BritBox streaming service, where it has been available since late August in high definition. It can be accessed as part of both the BritBox Old School Classics collection of classic kids TV, as well as within the BritBox Out Of This World collection of fantasy, adventure and sci-fi.
In addition, 24 new full-cast audio drama episodes have been produced by Big Finish Productions in association with Anderson Entertainment.
There is also new Terrahawks product in the apparel and dress-up categories.
A Terrahawks tee is available exclusively on TruffleShuffle via licensee Trademark Products, while, on the official Gerry Andersen store website, a limited edition Zelda mask inspired by the villain is currently available for pre-order and will ship in October.
On top of this, ‘Ten-Ten’ – the Terrahawks code for ‘Affirmative’ – has inspired a celebration of all things Terrahawks on 10 October, with further announcements due to be made soon.
“Terrahawks is one of my favourite Gerry Anderson series, and it looks like I’m not alone,” commented Jamie Anderson, writer, producer, director and md of Anderson Entertainment. “It has a strong and dedicated cult following, with Zelda being one of the most regularly mentioned 80s kids’ TV characters online.
“Fans of all ages will be thrilled – but not surprised – that the popularity of this classic Gerry Anderson show has now inspired new products, new streamed content and an all-new show.”
