Teletubbies Live extended after strong start

Celebrity attendance and strong ticket sales make first live theatre show a hit.

Additional tour dates have been announced for Teletubbies Live after the brand’s first ever live theatre show got off to a strong start, with a host of celebrity names attending the premiere and strong ticket sales.

Celebrities, influencers and journalists attending the November 17 show at the Manchester Palace Theatre included Coronation Street’s Samia Longchambon; stars of Gogglebox Julie and Tom Malone; Stoke and Scotland footballer Charlie Adam; Kelvin Fletcher from ITV soap, Emmerdale; Sarah Jayne Dunn from Hollyoaks; and Luke Burgess, Salford Red Devils rugby league star.

Teletubbles Live will tour across the UK and Ireland through to October 2018. Since the initial tour announcement in June, DHX Brands has seen impressive ticket sales and an overwhelming demand for more shows across the UK.

Following Friday’s successful premiere, almost 230 new show dates have been confirmed across more than 50 theatres, with more to come.

“It’s been a great year for Teletubbies as the brand celebrates 20 years of ‘Big Hugs,’ and we couldn’t be any more pleased with the success of their first ever live theatre show,” said Charlotte Hill, brand director at DHX Brands.

“Since its launch at the end of 2015, the new series has resonated strongly with young children. We’re delighted to be able to give them a truly entertaining theatre show that enhances the brand experience and supports Teletubbies’ core values of humour, fun, love and exploration.”

Martin Ronan, executive producer at Fierylight which has worked with DHX Brands on the live show, added: “We’re both excited and proud to see Teletubbies first ever live stage show off to such an incredible start, and we hope Teletubbies Live will continue to delight children and parents as it tours the UK and Ireland. We look forward to the many shows ahead.”
