Teletubbies joins Barnardo’s for Big Toddle

Characters to join leading charity event as part of their ongoing partnership.

DHX Brands is continuing its partnership with the Barnardo’s children’s charity, joining in with this year’s Big Toddle initiative.

The Teletubbies will support the event, which launched on June 19th and is the UK’s largest fundraising event for children under five, raising £14.5 million since it launched in 1997.

Both Teletubbies and The Big Toddle are celebrating their 20th anniversaries this year.

The Big Toddle will see nurseries and parents arrange their own walks for preschoolers up and down the country over the coming summer months.

Since the Teletubbies support began this year, there has been a 33% increase in the number of nurseries and parents signing up to take part. There are also a number of tie-in activities available online including making your own antenna headband.

Charlotte Hill, senior brand manager at DHX Brands, commented: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Barnardo’s Big Toddle this year. Teletubbies celebrates play, love and laughter, so working with the UK’s biggest and brightest event for children under five is a natural fit for the brand and our young audience.

“The response from nurseries, communities and families has been fantastic, and we hope it’s the most successful year to date with lots of money raised for Barnardo’s.”

Vivienne Martin, product manager at Barnardo’s, added: “Barnardo’s is proud to be celebrating the Big Toddle’s 20th anniversary with the fun loving Teletubbies, making this year more colourful than ever before.

“We have over 5,600 nurseries and parents holding their own Big Toddles to raise money for vulnerable children across the UK – that’s a staggering 1,400 more than last year. Thank you to all those who have joined this initiative, including DHX Brands for this year’s support.”
