Nick Jr picks up exclusive US broadcast rights for new series of DHX Media show.
Momentum is continuing to build for DHX Media’s Teletubbies brand in the US, with Nick Jr picking up exclusive US broadcast rights for a second series.
The 30 new half hour episodes will begin airing on the preschool channel this year.
Josh Scherba, svp distribution of DHX Media, said: “The new Teletubbies series is winning fans worldwide, and the pick-up of another season in the US points to the enduring appeal of this global brand.
“With all the recognizable favorites as well as new features, the second season is a real treat for audiences both in the US on Nick Jr, and the UK where it will premiere exclusively on CBeebies next year.”
Spin Master is the North American distributor of the Teletubbies toy range – created by Character Options – while other licensing partners in the territory include Simon & Schuster and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
The second series of Teletubbies sees the introduction of new voice stars including David Walliams and Rochelle Humes. New elements – such as the Tubby Car – have also been added.
