Teletubbies backs Barnardo’s Big Toddle for 2nd year

This year’s Big Toddle week is June 18-24 and will have a nature theme.

Barnardo’s Big Toddle is back this summer and for the second consecutive year will be run in partnership with the Teletubbies brand.

Last year, waves of under fives joined The Big Toddle, helping to raise £265,350 to help Barnardo’s transform the lives of vulnerable youngsters.

This year’s event will run from June 18-24 and will have a nature theme, with lots of opportunities for creative dressing up as animals, insects, flowers or even jungle creatures.

Barnardo’s Big Toddles are being held at Dudley Zoo on June 12 and 13, and Blackpool Zoo on the June 19, but parents, carers and playgroups are encouraged to get involved by organising their own Toddle event. This could include holding a community Big Toddle, one for families and friends or one organised by a local nursery or primary school.

Charlotte Hill, Teletubbies’ brand director, said: “The Teletubbies love nature and spending time outdoors in Teletubbyland, which is filled with beautiful flower covered hillocks, hopping rabbits and a blue sky sprinkled with white fluffy clouds.

“We want to encourage very young children to explore and love nature just as much as the Teletubbies do – so we’re delighted to be partnering with Barnardo’s for a second year running.”

Javed Khan, chief executive at Barnardo’s, added: “The Big Toddle is a great opportunity for the under-5s to have fun with their friends and families and raise money to help disadvantaged children.

“The nature theme means you can be really imaginative with fancy dress ideas and Barnardo’s has some great resources to help everyone taking part.

“The Big Toddle events organised by communities, nurseries and families are an essential way of helping us continue our vital work with vulnerable children, young people, parents and carers.”
