TeamTO and This Is Iris partner on Mighty Mike licensing in the UK

Brand will be launched with a solid platform on both CITV and Boomerang.

Kids entertainment company TeamTO has joined forces with This Is Iris to build the licensing programme for Mighty Mike in the UK.

The brand – which features a ‘refined pug with sophisticated taste’ – has a good platform to build on in the territory, with both CITV and Boomerang on board.

“Mighty Mike is a show with great appeal, it’s packed with personality and stand out characters that engage the audience the minute the show starts,” said Sarah Lawrence from This Is Iris. “The characters’ incredible photo-realism and the non-stop comedy make this show ideal for a great range of products.

“We are delighted to be working with TeamTO on this exciting property and look forward to updating our partners on Mighty Mike’s potential and standout performance on CITV.”

Patricia de Wilde, vp of marketing at TeamTO, continued: “We are delighted to be working with the experienced and talented team at This Is Iris. With Sarah’s uniquely creative and quality-driven approach to licensing, and great platforms on ITV & Boomerang, Mighty Mike could not be in better hands.

“Add to that the series’ combination of subtle and sophisticated humour inspired by the daily life of pets and  you have a perfect formula for success in the UK’s animal loving market.”

Darren Nartey, senior programme acquisitions executive at ITV, added: “We are absolutely delighted with the performance of Mighty Mike on CITV. It’s an outstanding comedy and clearly our audience agree.”

Meanwhile, Sean Gorman, programming director, Turner Kids, Northern Europe, commented: “Mighty Mike has been one of our top performers on Boomerang since launch, both on air and on demand. The lively slapstick comedy is a joy to watch and perfectly complements the lovable classic cartoons in our existing portfolio.”

The agreement follows a first publishing deal in Italy with high-end publishing outfit Edizione Play Press, for sticker, colouring, magic colouring and activity books, being sold in kiosks nationwide.

Other licensing agents taking Mighty Mike across the globe include Surge Licensing (US), France Télévisions (France) and Uyoung (China), supported by performances on Universal Kids (US), CBC & Family Channel (Canada), Boomerang (EMEA, Asia Pacific, Latam), France Télévisions, ABC (Australia), Super RTL (Germany) and Tencent (China) among others.

The show follows Mighty Mike who longs for a quiet life but is forced to defend his house from a bunch of furry intruders and maddening pets.

TeamTO manages all licensing rights worldwide and TV distribution in France, Germany and China, while Cake distributes the TV series in all other territories.
