Stars on Canvas backed by licensed names

Bagpuss, Clangers, Chef & Sue among those taking part in art exhibition and online auction.

Stars on Canvas – the popular art exhibition and online auction which raises funds for the Willow Foundation – is back for a fifth year, with a number of licensed properties making an appearance.

Original artwork has been created by both celebrities and acclaimed artists. These include children’s illustrators Peter Firmin – with Bagpuss and Clangers prints both featured – and Axel Scheffler.

Winnie the Witch and Angelina Ballerina are also included, while Ann Edwards’ Chef & Sue brand has also been involved.

There are over 250 stars of TV and film, sports personalities, musicians, artists, illustrators and cartoonists who have created the canvases in total.

Each of the one-off canvases will sold in aid of Willow, which works with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days.

The collection can be viewed at starsoncanvas.org.uk and is also on show at a public exhibition from November 23 to 27 at Quadrant Arcade, Regent Street, London.

The previous four auctions have raised more than £230,000 for Willow.

“This much anticipated art spectacular takes more than a year to collate,” said Bob Wilson, Arsenal legend and Willow Foundation co-founder and life president.

“Together our artists, illustrators, actors, singers and sports stars create the most fantastic collection of original artworks and we are extremely grateful for every contribution.

“By choosing to support Willow they are helping to fulfil many more Special Days for young adults living with serious illness.”

The online auction opened on November 17 and runs through until November 27.
