Star Wars stilettos prompt buyer frenzy

Irregular Choice limited edition platforms sell out as fans clamour to buy a pair.

Quirky shoe designer Irregular Choice has a huge hit on its hands – or maybe we should say feet – as its limited edition Star Wars platforms have created a fan frenzy.

The line of Star Wars shoes include characters from the famous franchise such as R2-D2, Yoda, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader standing in for the traditional high heel.

The $323 Skywalker stilettos feature the iconic blue lightsaber for the heel, which actually lights up, while the $422 Death Star booties boast a Stormtrooper helmet for one heel and Darth Vader’s helmet for the other.

The speed that some of the designs sold out even reached Parliament, after Labour Party member Angela Rayner became embroiled in a complaint with a Brighton boutique selling the shoes.

According to press reports, Angela believed she was on the waiting list for the R2-D2 shoes, but on discovering there was no waiting list and customers had to turn up in person to buy the shoes, she penned a strongly worded letter.
