Smyths names key brands in top toys list

Trolls, PAW Patrol, Shopkins, Barbie among those highlighted for Christmas by toy retailer.

Smyths has named its top toys for Christmas 2016, with a number of licensed properties taking a starring role.

The toy retailer – which kicked off its ‘If I Were a Toy’ marketing drive in September – has named products for brands including Trolls, Shopkins and PAW Patrol in the listing.

The retailer has named Trolls Feature Poppy – which includes 25 phrases and plays songs from the film – plus PAW Patrol Air Patroller and Shopkins Shoppies Popettes Popcorn Stop Playset (which is exclusive to Smyths) as ones to watch.

Also in the list are LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack and Barbie Wedding Gift Set (another Smyths exclusive), as well as Imaginext Remote Control Transforming Batbot.

“We are excited about our selection of what we think will be this year’s hottest toys.” said Sinead Byrne, joint head of marketing at Smyths. “We have exclusive to Smyths Toys products from the biggest brands including the Imaginext Batbot, Barbie Wedding Gift Set and Shopkins Shoppies Poppette.

“Other highlights include Nerf, LEGO and PAW Patrol. We have an exciting and wide range to offer all ages.”

Non-licensed toys in the listing include Nerf N-Strike Elite Hyperfine Value Pack, LEGO City Volcano Crawler, Dimples Ella Tandem Stroller, Pie Face Showdown and BMW GS Motorcycle 12v Electric Ride On.
