Smiley partners for gender inclusive couture line

Brand teams with contemporary designer Manish Arora for new collection.

Smiley has teamed up with celebrated contemporary designer Manish Arora on his latest spring/summer 2020 collection.

The new partnership debuted on the catwalk in Paris last night (September 26), in a collection that pays homage to the LGBTQ+ communities.

For spring/summer 2020, Arora marries street-style edge with couture cool. It fuses riotous colours with kitsch motifs, and combining contemporary silhouettes with a range of traditional Indian craft methods including embroidery, appliqué and beading.

The collection’s hero is a Smiley decorated with the iconic rainbow colours of pride, interspersed alongside the word Love and the heart symbol, in Arora’s trademark palette of pink and gold.

“We are proud to work on this collection,”said Michaela Fass, vp fashion at Smiley. “Manish’s clothes are always out of the ordinary, and his message of inclusivity and diversity is something close to our hearts at Smiley.

“Manish’s beautiful interpretation of our Pride Smiley sets a benchmark for some of the amazing partnerships we have lined up next year, that will salute the LGBTQ+ communities.”
