New collection of small domestic appliances is called ‘Sicily is my love’.
Smeg has reinforced its position as a fashion icon for the home, unveiling its second collaboration with fashion powerhouse, Dolce & Gabbana.
The brands have created a striking collection of small domestic appliances, entitled ‘Sicily is my love’.
The series (including kettles, toasters, juicers, blenders, coffee machines and stand mixers) celebrates Sicilian art and heritage and was launched in Italy’s fashion capital, Milan.
Earlier this year, Smeg and Dolce & Gabbana also joined forces to create the ‘Frigorifero d’Arte’ refrigerator, with a collection of hand painted fridges that are original artworks.
Designed by Dolce & Gabbana (which is based in Sicily), each new small appliance has a unique pattern, decorated with Sicilian motifs, including citrus fruit, prickly pears and cherries. These are framed in traditional triangular Sicilian decorations known as ‘crocchi’. They are all finished with the hallmark ‘Made in Italy.’
The SDAs will be available prior to Christmas in outlets including Smeg’s ‘shop in shop’ in Harrods and new flagship store, due to open in London’s Regent Street in July.
