Star Wars also named among winners at ceremony ahead of New York Toy Fair.
A number of toys based on big name licences walked away with accolades from the year’s US Toy of the Year Awards.
Held in New York on February 12 – just ahead of the US Toy Fair – preschool brand Doc McStuffins was the big winner, with Just Play picking up the overall Toy of the Year for its Pet Vet Checkup Centre (distributed in the UK by GP Flair).
The toy also picked up the Preschool Toy of the Year accolade at the ceremony, which was held at the American Museum of Natural History and hosted by the US Toy Industry Association.
Meanwhile, the Shopkins Scoops Ice Cream Truck from Moose Toys (another product handled by GP Flair in the UK) won the Girls Toy of the Year, while the e-Connected Toy of the Year went to Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition.
Star Wars also had a good night, named as Property of the Year, while LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Millennium Falcon was named Boys Toy of the Year.
The event also marked the induction of Bob Iger, chairman and ceo of The Walt Disney Company, into the Toy Industry Hall of Fame.
There was also a special tribute to the Toy Industry Foundation, which contributed new toys to more than one million children in 2015.
