Andrea Gornall and Neil Mitchell tell us what’s performing well and ones to watch.
Girl power and collectables are just two of the trends which have been earmarked by Shop Direct in the lead up to this festive season.
Neil Mitchell, toy buyer, and Andrea Gornall, senior buyer for toys and nursery, were among the judges of the product categories at this year’s Licensing Awards.
We asked them what was performing well for them currently and which properties they had their eyes on for the festive period.
Andrea Gornall, senior buyer toys and nursery and Neil Mitchell, buyer toys, Shop Direct:
“Both PAW Patrol and Shopkins are doing really well, while for boys is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Star Wars.
“The Secret Life of Pets kicked off in the summer and there is a lot of buzz around Trolls.
“We’re also excited for DC Super Hero Girls – it’s different and exciting and looks good. Finding Dory had a good reception and there’s also a good range of girls’ collectable Num Noms for autumn/winter.
“For boys, The Avengers and Star Wars are strong, while Oddbods and Danger Mouse are potentially ones to watch.
“We’ve had a great spring/summer on toys and the whole year should be positive.”
