Shaun the Sheep takes Japan by storm

Attendance at new themed play park in Osaka 30% higher than original predictions.

Aardman Animations’ Shaun the Sheep brand is continuing to win over fans in new territories – with Japan and China the latest to report success stories.

The new family farm themed Shaun the Sheep indoor play park in Osaka – which opened in December as part of a major shopping complex – is currently seeing attendance 30% higher than original predictions.

In addition, there has also been a 60% increase between the first and second month.

The retail spend is also currently 110% above the predicted capita per spend.

Further plans for Japan are afoot for later in the year, including an art trail and exhibitions.

Meanwhile, the Shaun the Sheep stage show – Save the Tree – has opened in China to a sell out audience of 1,000.

The show will tour China for the next two years, taking in cities including Beijing and Shanghai.

The musical theatre show launched in 2011 and toured 34 UK venues. A new show followed, rolling out in the Middle East in 2014, as well as embarking on a successful tour of GCC states including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
