Rubik’s publishing programme off to a flyer

The Smiley Company grows brand with host of publishing initiatives.

A host of new publishing launches have been revealed for the Rubik’s brand by master licensee The Smiley Company.

The titles were launched to the trade at Frankfurt Book Fair last year, with successful sell-in meaning they will hit shelves in 2018.

UK-based Carlton Books has launched an adult logic puzzle book based on the iconic brand entitled Rubik’s Puzzles: 101 Puzzles to Test Your Brain Power. The title has already been released into the UK, Hungary and Czech Republic to great success and will hit shelves in the US later this year.

In addition, Egmont will launch a brace of titles this year – How To Solve The Rubik’s Cube is an official guide to solving the puzzle and includes tips and trivia, while Rubik’s Children’s Brain Teasers contains puzzles and riddles for kids.

Both titles will launch later this year in the UK, Germany, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Australia, Spain, France and CEE countries, with additional territories to be announced soon.

Over in France, publisher Place des Editeurs is launching the Rubik’s Roll’Cube into the gift market. The cube-shaped boxes feature a flip-top cube with cards inside featuring a range of questions and challenges.

French children’s publisher Hemma, meanwhile, has already launched a range of Rubik’s-inspired titles in France. These include Sudoku pour les Enfants, mosaic activity books and logic book puzzles for kids, with further titles launching later this year.

Lori Heiss, vp publishing at The Smiley Company, commented: “We are thrilled with the new range of Rubik’s books which build on the core Rubik’s brand value of challenging and progressive puzzle fun.

“Developed to be challenging yet accessible just like the Cube, these titles from major global publishers will delight puzzle fans of all ages.”
