Move follows early success of four concept board books, published by Penguin UK.
The Roald Dahl Story Company is planning to expand further into the preschool space following the early success of four concept board books – Colours, ABC, 123 and Opposites – published by Penguin UK.
Katie Price, the company’s head of books, told Source that she believes there is real demand for more Roald Dahl product within the preschool sector. “Heritage brands like Roald Dahl are much loved and there’s definitely a demand for new titles,” she commented.
The company is going for a bright, primary colour palette as a point of difference from other preschool brands.
The Enormous Crocodile is the lead character for 2020, while the company will also be releasing its first seasonal title – My Dad is Fantastic – as well as two further concept board books, Shapes and Words. Two novelty titles are also planned for later in the year.
Katie added: “Once this range has really established itself, we will be following it with wider range of complementary merchandise.”
