RHS targeting £200m wild bird feed market

Agros Trading to produce first ever fully licensed range of bird feed.

The RHS is further expanding its licensing programme – appointing Agros Trading to produce a wide selection of officially endorsed bird food.

The wild bird feed range includes high energy suet balls, suet cakes, suet nibbles, premium brown peanut, oil rich black sunflower seeds, no mess sunflower hearts, high energy no mess seed mix, everyday seed mix, finches favourite nyjer seeds and protein rich mealworms.

The packaging for the range will make use of imagery from the RHS Lindley Library containing more than 25,000 images.

The range – which is already available at over 200 The Original Factory Shop stores – is due to launch at RHS shops and online, as well as a number of garden centres and selected supermarkets over the coming months.

The wild bird feed market in the UK is worth in excess of £200m a year.

“The enormous and growing popularity of feeding wild birds in the UK makes this an important market in which we have a strong reputation,” said John Molyneux, UK manager at Agros Trading. “Adding the much sought-after RHS brand to these new products will bring another level of credibility to an already quality offering.

“We are thrilled to be working with the RHS on this range.”

Cathy Snow, licensing manager at the RHS, added: “This is the first RHS-branded range of bird feed we have fully licensed and a very important step into this category for us.

“In the event, we couldn’t have hoped for a better partner. I’m certain that this will be a very productive partnership and popular product range.”
