Trader Vic’s – the restaurant group known for its exotic cocktails and Polynesian-inspired cuisine – has secured a multi-year publishing deal with Insight Editions’ imprint, Weldon Owen International.
The new collaboration will bring the brand’s classic and iconic recipes to a wider audience through a series of cookbooks and cocktail books.
The deal was secured by Perpetual Licensing, Trader Vic’s exclusive licensing agency.
“2025 is a very exciting year for Trader Vic’s,” commented Rhett Rosen, ceo at Trader Vic’s Hospitality Group. “Partnering with Insight Editions and releasing new cookbooks and cocktail books alongside our Hawaii and Los Angeles openings will further lay the foundation for the brand’s expansion initiatives. Trader Vic’s has been a primary inspiration for modern cocktail and tiki culture, and we are excited to introduce our authentic cuisine and drinks to a new generation. Trader Vic’s continues to grow in all facets and now perfectly is positioned to extend into a wide range of lifestyle categories.”
Roger Shaw, vp and publisher at Weldon Owen, continued: “We are thrilled to work with the amazing team at Trade Vic’s to build a modern vision for the brand and its iconic food and original drinks. The new cookbooks and cocktail books will retain the classic essence curated by Trader Vic Bergeron during his decades at the helm, while also introducing the world of exotic and tropical dining to an entirely new generation.”
With a history spanning over 90 years, Trader Vic’s has operated locations in New York, Beverly Hills, Emeryville, London, Atlanta, Bangkok, Dubai and Miami among others. June 2025 will see it opening in Kona, Hawaii, followed by LA in the autumn.
